Testimonials

  • Kathryn sold our home in Somerset, Maryland, in August of 2014. We chose her for a few reasons: I liked her affiliation with Wydler Brothers, who have a good reputation; we felt she understood the area and target buyers well; and we liked her professionalism and personality -- responsive, realistic, good listener, kind (and funny). Kathryn was clear and up front about a selling and pricing strategy, and the process played out very well, and as she had predicted. We were happy with the deal reached and the process went smoothly.

Kathryn was the perfect partner for our home search. She was gracious and patient as the details of our cross-country move seemed ever-changing, and she spent hours showing us homes during our three house-hunting trips to the area. Although our budget could have been considered limiting by DC-MD-VA standards (under $500,000), she was no less enthusiastic about the properties and never pressured us to look at anything above our budget. When the contract negotiations took some unexpected turns, she did the research and patiently explained what was going on. She knew when to step back and let us make decisions and when to step in and provide more specific guidance. It was a bit of an emotional roller coaster, but Kathryn encouraged us to hang on and helped us through the process. It was worth it!

  • I can highly recommend Kathryn to anybody looking to buy a home in the DC area. My case was rather difficult, as I did not live in the area. I had one week in town to find a suitable home. The communication via internet and phone prior to my arrival was already superb. Kathryn was very adept at identifying objects of interest. While in DC during the whole selection process she was very patient, attentive and superb at arranging a very efficient schedule, so that we didn't waste any time. Besides her professional skills, Kathryn is a very nice and warm-hearted person who will go the extra mile for you. Without her help I am quite sure I wouldn't have such a great home today.

My experience working with Kathryn was a rewarding one. I jokingly tell people that she is part lawyer/part real estate agent/part therapist because she truly works hard to understand what you feel comfortable with and what makes you happy. From the beginning of my home buying process, she really took the time to get to know me and quickly learned what I was looking for in my first home. She also helped me separate needs from wants. And after I thought I had found what I was looking for, she cautioned me from just settling for something and assured me that something else would come along. And it did! In fact, something way better came along and I’m so happy I listened to her advice. She walked me through every step of the process, advocated for me, and helped me review contracts and other documents. I am lucky to have had Kathryn in my corner.

  • Whether you are selling or buying in the DC, MD or VA area, I honestly don't think you could find a better realtor than Kathryn Schwartz. You will quickly understand how lucky you are to have her on your side once you start working with her. I have lived for 25 years in the DC area, have bought and sold several houses and have dealt with dozens of realtors. Time and again I see friends hire the perceived 'top agent' in their neighborhood, only to complain later about their lack of responsiveness (and often to change realtors.) Kathryn really is different. She has a rare combination of personality (you can't not like Kathryn), talent (real estate, legal knowledge, and negotiating skills) and experience (support of Wydler, one of the best brokerage teams in the city, years of experience living in several DC and MD neighborhoods, and a huge contact base). And it is incredible how responsive -- and, more importantly, proactive -- she is. She will have thought of everything you meant to ask her before you do, and 100 other things in your interest that you hadn't thought of. In my case, when she listed my Georgetown house for sale she recommended extensive upgrades to the exterior and interior, which all-in-all were not that expensive but made a huge difference in how the house showed. She then helped me implement the changes, literally every step of the way and in many instances with her own hands ! Once the stage was set to her satisfaction, (including with her extensive outreach to advance-market the house), the house went under contract at full price in 3 days. I honestly don't think it could have turned out better, and Kathryn deserves all the credit for this great outcome.
