Dear Friends & Neighbors –

The 2018 Winter Olympics have captured our attention these past couple weeks! If you haven’t been following, the final days are filled with everything from curling to ice hockey. Competitors from the DMV racked up 20+ medals in Rio 2016, and DC-area athletes are competing in a variety of sports this winter. Get the low-down on these local Olympians.

Earlier this month, we picked up a “silver” at our #BartendingBrothers event at Silver in Cathedral Heights. Your support raised over $1,000 for our friends at A Wider Circle, especially significant as we near 1000 beds donated! Our principal brokers had so much fun serving up cocktails to warm us up in the chilly weather.

Market Overview

Speaking of Olympic competition, the spring market is right around the corner! Cupid’s arrows hit buyers early this year, and purchase loan applications are up. The construction industry is reacting to the demand – the National Association of Housing Builders reported 8.5% growth in single-family home production in 2017, and forecast another 5% increase this year. Over the coming years, you’ll see builders shift their focus as new opportunities emerge like the rise of autonomous vehicles: property values could rise dramatically if commuting becomes less of a factor.

Even with more listings, more buyers, and more options in general, you still want to stand out among the crowd. Putting in an offer? Write in the contract that the sellers can remain post-settlement for free until they’ve secured a purchase. Going on the market? Make your kitchen pop with trendy bold colors or by mixing vintage with modern. In order to get over list price, like 25.4% of homes sold in the DC area last year, you’ll have to think like a buyer to see what can boost your home’s appeal the most. Whether you’re moving or staying put, Wydler Brothers is here to help you win a gold medal in real estate.
