Welcome to Cabin John & Carderock
Recognized in the 19th century by the C & O Canal, Cabin John has been home to roughly 2,300 people. Adjacent to the Potomac River, the Cabin John area is a woodsy community with over 700 homes in the Bethesda area. It’s natural beauty and active community has encouraged a long-lasting tradition of supporting its neighbors in the D.C. community. The Cabin John community participates in special events like Blood Drives, 4th of July Parade, Spring Egg Hunt and more. Dozens of businesses are in the area with the central location of the Cabin John Village. The village hosts a local Giant Grocery and other shops. Cabin John’s unique community can be reflected by Cabin John Park Citizens Association (CJCA). Founded in 1919, the CJCA has devoted its resources to improving amenities for the community. The CJCA’s long-lasting history represents the strong and vibrant community that is Cabin John.
Right on the sparkling water of the Potomac sits the neighborhood of Carderock. This residential area is located just south of TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm, and though it is close to 495, it attracts none of the traffic of the nearby cities. Within Carderock is the Naval Surface Warfare Center, which creates an environment that fosters a community that values a strong education, science and technology. Residents are also able to retreat on a hike, picnic or fishing expedition at Carderock Recreation Area Pavilion.
