Welcome to Clarendon
Packed with restaurants and shops such as Apple, LuluLemon, Whole Foods, Williams-Sonoma and many local merchant boutiques, Clarendon is the heartbeat of activity in Arlington. Clarendon is also home to one of Arlington’s best coffee shop’s, NorthSide Social, a place that is known to both outsiders and locals. With so many annual events and retailers, there are countless opportunities to run into neighbors and mesh into the fabric of the town. Arlington’s Neighborhood Day parade, Tax Blues Night, and their Mardi Gras Parade bring people together throughout the year. However, the most important event is “Clarendon Day,” a day in October to celebrate the town with live music, booths from local restaurants and coffee houses, retail sales, fun activities for children, and of course an ice-cream eating contest. When those events aren’t going on, locals can be found at the farmers market held in Clarendon’s Central Park which starts in spring and goes until early winter. The market’s goods range from organic produce and baked goods to homemade soaps. Sought after residential communities include Lyon Village & Lyon Park, each providing their own neighborhood and park.
One notable neighborhood in Clarendon is Lyon Village. Founded in 1923, Lyon Village has charming older homes and a tight-knight community. Their citizens’ association holds many seasonal events so that residents will always have a social opportunity. It is conveniently located close to the Clarendon and CourtHouse metro stations to make commutes to work or D.C. attractions a breeze. The recently updated Lyon Village Park is also very popular amongst those living in the area. Some local favorites include Don Tito, Ambar and Galaxy Hut.
