You Had Me At "DMV"

Autumn is our favorite season in Washington, offering endless reminders of why we feel most at home living here. After a summer of sweating through showings and pretending humidity is a glow, we’re savoring the cooler mornings, the first hints of gold in the trees, backpacks reappearing, and coffee shops buzzing with fresh ambition. Fall always feels like a season where anything is possible.

The DMV has held our hearts since we both arrived here in 1994/1995. What we thought might be a temporary stop after leaving New York City quickly became the place where we put down roots, built our families, and never looked back. Through our real estate career, we’ve watched countless others fall in love with the region too. More and more people are choosing to call the DMV home—and even companies like Amazon and Hilton have planted their headquarters here. Washington is no longer just the political center of the country; it’s a thriving hub for technology, healthcare, hospitality, education, and global business.

So why here? Because the DMV offers what few other places can: opportunity, diversity, culture, and quality of life. Here, you can spend a morning hiking the Potomac trails, an afternoon in one of the world’s greatest museums, and an evening dining at a world-class restaurant. But more than that, it’s the neighbors who become friends and the sense of true community that makes this place so special. Helping our clients find their home here—and becoming part of that story—remains one of the greatest joys of our work.

This summer was busier than expected, underscoring the fact that people are still eager to put down roots in the D.C. community. With a strong stock market and the potential for lower interest rates ahead, we’re optimistic as we look toward the coming weeks and months. We anticipate a stronger Q4 than 2024, and will be watching market metrics closely.
