A Home for the Seasons

A Home for the Seasons

In a market that experiences all four seasons, it’s important for home buyers to consider how a home will "live” throughout the entire year. Here are just a few examples of what we mean:

  1. Proceed with caution. When touring a property during the warmer months, visualize the steepness of the driveways and your accessibility if covered in ice or snow.
  2. Hello neighbor! Leaves on trees create a beautiful private border around your home, and can reduce noise from the beltway. However, come autumn after the fall foliage and the leaves fall there may be additional space to see your neighbors.
  3. Ice, ice, baby! Does your home face north? Enjoy the cool and shady area during summer but, come winter and a layer of ice may linger on your front porch.
  4. Grading, drainage, and gutters? When storms can bring 3 inches of rain in a matter of hours, having drainage that can handle the worst case and not the normal rainfall is key to a dry basement. We are seeing that many homes require larger gutters to handle the volume of rain in one storm.

Reviewing seasonal and winter-related factors is just one of the ways we go the extra step with our clients to ensure the home is one that will bring joy throughout the year.
